"For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." This verse, from I Corinthians 6:20, serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ and the profound implications of His redemptive work on the cross. When Paul writes that we are "bought with a price," he refers to the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for humanity. This price was not paid in silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ (1 Peter 1:18-19). Understanding the magnitude of this sacrifice compels us to recognize our immense value in God’s eyes and the seriousness with which we should approach our lives.

Given that our bodies and spirits are now claimed by God through this costly redemption, Paul urges us to "glorify God in your body, and in your spirit." This dual focus highlights that our faith is not merely a spiritual or internal matter but should also manifest in our physical actions and daily lives. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19), and thus, we should honor God in how we care for them, what we do with them, and how we use them to serve others. Living in a way that glorifies God involves making choices that reflect His holiness, purity, and love.

Moreover, glorifying God in our spirit means aligning our inner thoughts, attitudes, and motivations with His will. It involves cultivating a heart of worship, gratitude, and obedience. As we reflect on the price Jesus paid, our response should be one of deep reverence and commitment to living a life that honors Him. This holistic approach to worship and obedience, encompassing both body and spirit, affirms that every aspect of our existence is an opportunity to reflect God's glory. By doing so, we not only fulfill our purpose but also bear witness to the transformative power of His love and grace in our lives.
