During the Christmas season, and oftentimes during the rest of the year… too many of us find ourselves being as ugly as the sweaters we wear to Christmas parties. Last week we examined the need to steer clear of ugly thoughts and to rewire or renew our mind. If we’re not careful, ugly thoughts lead to ugly words, ugly actions and ugly motives, and we tend to hurt others. Today I’m preaching about our use of ugly words. It is very easy to say things to each ther that are hurtful without paying much attention to it… especially the more familiar we become with one another. Words carry meaning and it matters how and when we use them. Spending time with friends and family during the Christmas season can too often result in us saying things that we regret. Tensions can run high, and if we’re not careful to tame our tongues, we can find ourselves hurting those we love with our ugly words.
